Joe and Becky Dalba: A wrong made right
Joe and Becky Dalba had just sold their 5-bedroom home in Mansfield, TX. With Joe getting close to retiring and the kids all grown, downsizing made a lot of sense. After looking for homes in Mansfield they wound up going to contract on a new home in North Fort Worth with a well-known builder. They found a nice floor plan, but when the builder they chose wasn’t delivering on promises, they had to start over, losing precious time and gaining costly frustration. Happening upon a Riverside Homebuilders sign steered them on the right road, and a wrong was made very, very right.
Heading in a new direction
From the start, Riverside was upfront and honest about what they could and could not do.
“We were looking at a ferocious pace,” explains Joe. “Once we knew that the home we were building was not going to happen, we looked at over 100 homes in 90 days, but we were not going to settle for anything less than what we wanted.”
“I admit we came in feeling burnt from the previous contract experience,” admits Becky, “But the people we dealt with at Riverside were honest.” We never felt like they were playing games or just going with the script.
The Riverside connection
Joe says they did their due diligence to learn more about Riverside Homebuilders and their homes.
“We looked at what they had done. The technology that went into what they build and how they build it, all made sense. The design was quite livable, but the most important aspect of the home buying process was... my wife liked the house!”
They chose a 2,175-square-foot San Saba model that was under construction at Innisbrook Place. They bought the home in late summer of 2018 and moved in that October.
Now that they’ve lived there for more than a year, Joe and Becky have learned to appreciate even more about the home.
“Spending the amount of time I spend in the home, there isn’t one specific thing I particularly love about the home, but it was very easy to be comfortable here.” Joe’s experience with building and buying new homes provided perspective. “A lot of times there are things that nag you and they give you a lot of grief. Then you have to listen to the builder make excuses. We didn’t have that here. It’s been a really solid build.”
The few things they’ve needed to address, he said, were taken care of “without question or excuses”.
“They were very much intent on whatever they promised. The high quality? They deliver on it,” he adds. “I was more impressed with the people of Riverside after the build than before.”
A great Fort Worth location
Although they are fairly new to the area, Becky used to ski at nearby Eagle Mountain when she was a child. In the warmer months, Eagle Mountain Lake is a popular destination for people who enjoy the outdoors, so there’s always plenty to do.
Right now, Becky is furloughed (COVID-19) from her job at the airport. She and Joe spend their free time doing what they love: cooking together and having FaceTime chats with “an army of grandchildren”.
When the shelter-at-home orders lift, Becky will return to her job. Joe will continue to enjoy his retirement, and both will keep loving the fact that one wrong direction led them in one that is exactly right.
