Our Favorite Fall Activities Near Our New Home Communities in DFW
Fall is the perfect time to explore the Greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, especially for homeowners in our Riverside Homebuilders new home communities. With cooler temperatures on the horizon, vibrant fall foliage to see and a range of outdoor events coming up, there’s no shortage of activities to enjoy. Whatever new home community you live in, you’re never far from exciting autumn adventures, so read on as we take you through some of our favorite upcoming fall activities near your new home in DFW.
Pumpkin patches
Nothing says fall like a visit to a local pumpkin patch, and homeowners can find plenty of these seasonal attractions throughout the Greater DFW area. Mainstay Farm Park in Cleburne, near our new homes in Alvarado, offers a number of exciting rides, pumpkin picking and delicious food and drinks to enjoy. It’s the perfect place for anyone looking to make lasting fall memories this year. Another spot for fall fun is the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm at Preston Trail Farms in Gunter. This picturesque setting offers hayrides, pumpkin picking, a hay maze and plenty of farm animals to see, making it a great destination for individuals with children.
Fall festivals
Fall in Texas ensures that festivals can be found around every corner—celebrating everything from local crafts and cuisine to music and community, and many cities near our new home communities host their own fall festivals. Ennis Autumn Daze is a favorite in Ennis, and this festival goes from October 25-27 with a number of local vendors and activities for everyone. Residents with new homes in Weatherford or new homes in Aledo can also enjoy the Fall Festival & Trunk or Treat at West Fort at Weatherford, which offers games, candy, prizes, food and more.
Hiking and nature walks
As the weather cools down, fall is a wonderful time to explore the natural beauty of the area, and several parks and hiking trails are located close to our new home communities in DFW. Eagle Mountain Lake is close to our new homes in Azle and is ideal for a scenic autumn hike, offering views of the lake and an array of wildlife. With the cooler temperatures, the trails are especially enjoyable this time of year. Residents with new homes in Decatur, Krum and Valley View are also close to the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands, a sprawling outdoor space perfect for hiking or simply taking in the fall foliage.
Local farmers markets
Fall is harvest season, and many local farmers markets in the Greater DFW area showcase seasonal produce, baked goods and handmade crafts. The Weatherford Farmers Market is a popular destination for homeowners in Weatherford or Aledo, offering fresh autumn produce and fall-themed crafts. For those with new homes in Fort Worth, you can explore the Cowtown Farmers Market, which offers everything from fresh produce to pumpkins and fall flowers—perfect for decorating your new home.
Haunted houses and spooky trails
If you’re looking for a bit of thrill this fall season, you can check out one of the many haunted attractions around the DFW area. The Cutting Edge Haunted House in Fort Worth is one of the scariest haunted houses in the country, offering an experience like no other if you’re seeking some adventure. For those with new homes in Oak Ridge or new homes in Royse City, you’ll also want to add the Zombie Safari in Forney to your list for a unique and heart-pounding halloween experience.
Local vineyards and wineries
Fall is also an excellent time to enjoy wine tasting at one of the region's vineyards, where you can sip on local wines while enjoying the crisp autumn air and beautiful views. Eden Hill Vineyard in Celina, a short drive for residents with new homes in Van Alstyne, offers wine tastings in a beautiful countryside setting—a perfect getaway to celebrate the fall season. Brushy Creek Vineyards, near our new homes in Paradise, Decatur and Krum, is another great option, offering a relaxing atmosphere where you can sample wines and enjoy the surrounding fall scenery.
