Azle is one of the safest cities in North Texas
You already know that location is one of the most important factors in choosing your next home. You want to be close to good schools and all the amenities that make living there so much better. Did you check to see if it’s a safe place to live? Azle is one of the safest cities in North Texas, as well as one of the fastest growing, according to the Dallas Business Journal.
For the sixth year in a row, the crime rate in Azle dropped. In 2014, the serious criminal offenses identified and tracked by both the FBI and Texas Department of Safety, decreased 6% from 2013. In 2019, this figure is nearly 43% lower than in 2013!
Both BackgroundChecks.org and Alarms.org recognized this significant achievement in public safety by placing Azle on their list of the “Safest Cities in Texas”, at #25 and #36, respectively.
In 2013, the Azle Police Department recorded 346 incidents of theft. In 2019, there were only 177. Burglaries dropped from 104 in 2013 to 41 in 2019.
The population of Azle has increased steadily, from 10,947 in 2010 to 13,347 in 2019—a nearly 22% boost. With more people, you might expect more crime. While the population has grown in this DFW suburb, the crime rate took a noticeable—and appreciated—dip.
Azle Police Chief Rick Pippins attributes the success to a more highly trained team of law enforcement professionals, a community-centric approach to policing, and citizens’ cooperation.
“As a department we, along with Azle Fire Department, enjoy the overwhelming support and trust of our community and I cannot overstate the importance this relationship has been on our ability to effectively provide public safety services,” said Chief Pippins.
The residents of Rocky Ridge—Riverside Homebuilders’ community minutes from Azle—appreciate the safety surrounding them, as well as the quality of the Azle ISD that serves the students. The neighborhood also boasts the benefit of close proximity to Eagle Mountain Lake and Shady Grove Park, where locals and visitors enjoy unlimited recreation.
