First impressions can often make or break a potential home buyer’s experience with a builder. Thurston Johnson has spent his time with Riverside Homebuilders making sure that when people walk through one of our model homes, they walk away feeling confident in their decision to work with our team. Thurston joined the sales team in 2019 as a sales assistant for Chad Robinson, and was promoted to his current role less than a year later—but this wasn’t his first foray into the industry. 

“Prior to joining Riverside I always worked in remodeling and reconstruction,” Thurston said. “Getting into new construction was an easy transition, as my whole career had been spent in the home. My early career really helped me see what exactly homeowners want in a home.” 

As the sales manager of the Oak Valley community in Terrell, Thurston spends his days meeting with visitors and showcasing everything this particular community—and Riverside Homebuilders as a whole—has to offer. Luckily, interacting with potential customers is one of the highlights of Thurston’s role. 

“I really like interacting with individual customers and families,” Thurston said. “I’m not someone who can stand in front of a group and give a sales presentation, but talking with someone one-on-one is where I thrive. I enjoy getting to know them and working together to find out what floor plan and features will help improve their current situation.” 

Thurston takes the time with each potential homebuyer to learn what they like and don’t like about their current home. He’ll take what they say to heart and narrow down floor plans he thinks will work for them, offer details that may make their decision easier and work tirelessly to help them find the home of their dreams.
