With nearly three years of dedicated service, Amber has played a pivotal role in shaping our phenomenal floor plans and guaranteeing each of our new homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area meets the highest standards of quality and innovation. We recently had the privilege to sit down with her and dive deeper into the details of her crucial role here at Riverside Homebuilders—unveiling the process that goes into crafting dream homes for families and individuals across DFW. 

 A look into Amber’s journey

Amber's journey at Riverside Homebuilders began when she joined our team as a Senior Estimator, and her passion for precision and commitment to excellence quickly propelled her to the role of Plan Manager—and most recently, the Plan and Estimating Manager. “I am responsible for ensuring our plan sets are as accurate as possible, updating outdated plans, designing new plans with architects, ensuring accurate material take-offs and quantities, and controlling the setup and maintenance of Global ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Database with three people in my department,” Amber explains. 

A typical day for Amber is a blend of meticulous planning and hands-on collaboration. Checking plans for accuracy, redesigning and improving them and ensuring smooth communication with architects are just a part of her routine. She places great emphasis on collaboration, stating, “I spend time with our architect every day talking through plan changes to make sure we are clear on expectations, and we agree on best solutions for new and existing plans.”

Amber's team, including—Adriana, Chandler and Fabian—meets daily to align priorities and discuss ongoing projects. “I go over drawings received from our architect and redline errors, then give feedback to make our drawings as close to error-free as I possibly can. We meet again at 4 pm every day to go over what we accomplished,” Amber says. Additionally, regular field visits ensure that plans are not just theoretically sound—but practical, functional and exceptional. Amber and her team leave no stone unturned during their day-to-day tasks—and this dedication to detail is what sets Riverside Homebuilders apart.

Raising the bar in floor plan design

Amber is not only about maintaining high standards—but raising them. “Recently, I created the Riverside Plan Change Request App to give all employees a voice if they see inaccuracies or room for improvement on plans. It is simple and can be downloaded to any Riverside employee’s phone, tablet or computer. Currently, we are setting up a Global System in our ERP. It will be a great enhancement to our company—and will make changing and maintaining much easier for all departments. It will be implemented later in the year,” Amber explains.

Whether it's working closely with the Starts Department to ensure plans meet code or coordinating with our Purchasing Department for plan changes—she navigates seamlessly between teams. Builders and Area Managers rely on her for quick decisions, showcasing the interconnected nature of the homebuilding process. “Working alongside my team and getting their input on the best solution to the issues we must tackle is one of my favorite parts about my job,” Amber states. “Riverside feels like home. Tim makes sure we all know that we are appreciated and valued—and that makes a huge difference in performance. His appreciation trickles down to all levels and departments in the company and gives the family feeling.”
