Read below to hear from Karolyn Shelton and Nikki Lytle, our incredible Community Sales Managers at Morningstar, as they share insights into the positive impact of Morningstar's new community garden.
Q: Can you provide an overview of Morningstar's community garden?
A: The community garden has always been in the plans for this beautiful community, so it’s exciting to see it come to life. The purpose is to bring Morningstar residents closer together while being a part of something larger. Here, neighbors of all ages come together and spend time with one another without having to leave the community—which is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering connections and creating a welcoming, close-knit environment for everyone in Morningstar.
Q: Could you share some details about how the community garden is managed and maintained? Are there specific guidelines or rules that residents need to follow when participating in the garden?
A: The community garden is maintained by the community. There are 20 spots available and they are first come first serve. There aren’t many rules—the community just wants whoever comes and goes to keep it clean and well-maintained!
Q: In what ways does the community garden contribute to the overall sense of community within Morningstar?
A: The community garden greatly contributes to the overall sense of community within Morningstar because it brings everyone from all over the large neighborhood together in one place. Like-minded people are creating new connections here, and it really helps cultivate lasting friendships between neighbors.
Q: What types of plants, fruits or vegetables are typically grown in the community garden?
A: It's hard to say what is usually grown here because there is always so much variety! I remember one year; a gentleman accidentally grew too many watermelons and was begging to give them away. The garden is open to an array of different fruits and vegetables, and it’s nice to see so much experimentation blooming in the community.
Q: How has the Morningstar community responded to the presence of the garden?
A: The community absolutely loves the garden. I have noticed that there are a lot of grandparents out with their grandchildren showing them things, and just are in awe at what they are growing and building. The community garden is just a big step for community involvement and being one harmonious destination for fostering a deep sense of belonging.

We recently met with Riverside Homebuilders. The model homes we were shown were absolutely gorgeous, and the communities were beautiful with many options on placement for a new home. There are innumerable options for building styles and upgrades if desired. The staff we met with were professional and spent most of the day with us answering questions and offering suggestions.
